Diabolical Moeblobbing

So here is a cute thing about Clear that you may or may not already know but I don’t see talked about: Clear tends to say aloud the onomatopoeia for things while he does them. This is easy to miss in the game itself because the translators tend to translate them as the sound itself, but he’s not actually making those sounds – he’s saying the word FOR the sound.

So when he’s drawing, he sing-songs “Scribble scribble scribble.” (sara sara sara)

When he’s ‘sleeping’, he says “Snore Snore” (suya suya) and when Aoba grabs him while he’s 'sleeping’ he responds with “Mumble Mumble” (munya munya).  (This is why Aoba’s like “…this guy’s definitely not actually sleeping” and gets annoyed with him when he falls sleep so quickly – because it’s the biggest fake sleeping giveaway HE’S NOT SNORING HE’S SAYING 'SNORE’).

He does this in the supplementary material as well – like in the april fool’s drama he says “Clap clap clap” (pachipachi) as he claps, he says “Click” when he unlocks Mizuki’s door, and he says “om nom om nom” as he eats Mizuki’s food. (Poor Mizuki.)

It is the cutest trait and while I think it’s understandable the translators didn’t just put the words in there, it does lose something when you don’t know that that’s exactly what Clear’s doing – putting the words for the sounds in there instead of the sounds themselves.

Anyway I thought I’d put it out there for the people who might not have realized it, and bring it back up for the people who did to be able to gush about this cute robot who narrates his own sound effects.

(Someday, you know, I bet he’ll do this in sex too. All will be going well and then he’ll start singing “FONDLE FONDLE FONDLE” as he gropes Aoba and Aoba will be like “…well I’m done. Bye.”)
